On these cold winter days and with the Holidays right around the corner, it is nice to have something warm, comforting, delicious, and healthy.
I love hot chocolate and how it makes me feel on a cold winter night. However, the convenient little packets and scoops out of a can are loaded with sugar and calories that don't always fit into my goals.
This Healthy Hot Cocoa recipe is a great replacement without sabotaging my efforts to be lean and healthy.
8 oz unsweetened Almond milk
1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder (more or less to taste)
1 1/2 tsp Stevia or other sweetener (more or less to taste)
Put the almond milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Once milk starts to warm, add in the cocoa powder and sweetener, whisking constantly. Experiment w/optional flavors, such as cinnamon, vanilla, or one drop of peppermint or orange oil.
Heat to desired temperature and enjoy!

I have always been told that people who exercise eat less junk. I really never questioned it, but I really had never experienced it (at least to this extent).
I had hurt my neck and decided that I needed some time off from exercising. Needless to say over the past two weeks, I was packing away the junk without even realizing it.
If I was bored, stressed, or overwhelmed I would go to the pantry and snack. I was utilizing food to comfort me often. Have you ever done this? Then I got a bit moody as well. I wondered what my problem was and then it HIT me. I had not exercised and I was seeing the results in different ways than I had anticipated.
Needless to say, being cautious not to irritate my neck, I got up this morning and did a workout. Not only do I feel better, but I noticed immediate results as I rarely walked to the pantry to snack.
The best piece of advice I can give you, to make it through the Holidays, is to make sure to get a daily workout in. It will ease your stress, give you more energy, and you will EAT LESS JUNK.
